We held an invite-only celebration event to mark the occasion at the The Cherry Artspace, with performances by the The Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers and the Honey Child Soul Quintet!
Serendipity Catering & Bar did a wonderful job catering the night, with special thanks to Sheldrake Point Winery and Liquid State Brewing Company donating libations for the event!
We also used the occasion to announce a collaboration with the Dorothy Cotton Institute, to produce a film about the life and works of Dorothy Foreman Cotton. Her leadership, and the leadership of women during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, has largely gone unsung.
This new film will explore and illuminate the role of women, song, and civic education in that movement's core.
Needless to say, for those of you who who've been keeping track of this project from its earliest days, you'll know how gratifying it is for us to finally bring it to this stage of the process!
